Applications are used intensively on all of our office workstations and most important to our company is the ability to restore a workstation back to its previous mode after a failure.
Utilizing client server technology, Hummert Commerce has fully integrated Citrix Presentation Server into its information technology landscape and has woven the use of thin clients throughout its offices. Data is stored on a center repository and applications are "pushed" to users via Presentation Server on a user by user basis without having to install an OS at the workstation level, no bothering to worry about updates and upgrades. The servers hosting the applications themselves make the applications available across a server farm. All servers within the farm are load balanced, using Citrix' technology and the end result is seamless to the user.
The companies taking advantage of this technology is lovelylabels.com, an online retailer of family stationary, including labels, mailing labels and note cards. The kids gardening company called, HortiKids.com, also benefits from this technology available to our staff either via the Web Interface (formerly called NFuse) or via Citrix Secure Access Manager (MSAM). In addition, a weblog site called Hummert weblog uses Site 03 for its development.
The data stored on Site Server 03 is:
- Application images for staff members to retrieve if necessary. Hummert Applications are used for building sites and maintaining them and these ISO files are stored on Site Server 03.
